Selene Cardia was born in Muravera, Cagliari, Italy in 1995. She currently lives and works between Silius, Cagliari and Naples.
Cardia explores the subtle interplay of nature through her distinctive brushwork, sometimes dense and layered, at other times fluid and expansive. Rather than depicting the natural world directly, her paintings evoke its presence, making the act of painting itself both her process and her purpose.
Her work moves away from representational imagery, instead rooted in the cadence of daily life and the meditative repetition of gesture. This approach reflects a deep engagement with the rhythms that shape our existence.
Born and raised in a small Sardinian town, Cardia refined her artistic vision through studies in Berlin, Florence, and Naples, where she specialized in Painting at the Academy of Fine Arts.
In 2024, she received special recognition from the GDG Prize and presented her first solo exhibition, Dedicato a Migulim, at the Doris Ghetta Gallery (March 2025). Her work was also featured in the collective exhibition Lettere intorno a un giardinoat the Alfonso Artiaco Gallery (June 2024), curated by Marta Ferrara and Mario Francesco Simeone.
