Sergio Prego investigates the notion of space using various media, which go from photography to sculpture until installation. All his research finds in the video its final support, in a process where the technology is turned at the service of the concept.

From 1998 its work strongly is influenced by the possibility to use a video system which catches in simultaneous way a single moment from various points of
view. This fragmentary perception is assembled with an attention nearly craft made (even if supported by a highly computerized technique). Its’ aim is to create a new perspective which modify the normal relation between time, body and environment.

For its first show in Italy and at  the Alfonso Artiaco Gallery, Sergio Prego presents two video Untitled and Sunoid. Like in his last works, also these videos are composed by a series of stills arranged with digital techniques. In these videos there is a contrast between the stasis of each image and the movement of their successive sequences. The artist proposes, also, two series of photo: Cowboy Inertia Creeps, narration of the physical movements of a man in space and 10 to 0, sequences of views taken in the tunnels and roads of Tokyo.

Sergio Pergo was born in 1969 in San Sebastian. He lives and works in Spain and in New –York. Prego’ work includes different medias as video, photography, performance art, installation, and sound. Prego has exhibited extensively in the United States and abroad, most recently at Centro de Arte Contemporaneo de Malaga in Spain, Museum of Contemporary Art in Denver, and P.S. 1 MoMA in New York. Prego also created a special installation at the Palazzo delle Papesse-Centro Arte Contemporanea in Siena in 2005.
