Climate change and increasingly unpredictable and violent weather events are before our eyes, but large-scale CO2 reduction operations at the source of industrial production are struggling to take off. A complementary and concrete perspective of mitigation of the impact of CO2 is therefore that of "urban forestation": massive and widespread increase of plantings, to mitigate the impact of sun and rain on the earth, capture CO2, make socially friendly even the most industrialized or degraded suburbs.
What are the real scientific needs and possibilities of these environmental policies? What are the costs and benefits? How can contemporary art and urban planning make this emergence evident and then encourage the spread of this new way of understanding living in the urban context?
