The term "raw" is applied here to the visual arts and means "in the raw state, which has not undergone any preparation or transformation".
Under this title of "La Couleur crue" are grouped 40 works by 30 international artists, women and men who are interested in color, its relation to matter, to light as well as to the physical and sensory perception that a whole. everyone can experiment with color. Behind this close link, arise the questions of the existence of color in its natural state, of the materials and know-how used, or of the dematerialization of color in its relationship to light.
Visitors will discover various mediums such as painting, sculpture, object, text, sound, installation but also video, in material and embodied, immaterial or conceptual, immersive or frontal works.
The curatorship is provided by Jean-Roch Bouiller, director of the Museum of Fine Arts, Sophie Kaplan, director of the Criée - Contemporary Art Center and Anne Langlois, artistic director and curator of 40m2 exhibitions.
